Tom Sawyer wins Compton 20 Downland Challenge Saturday 8 April 2017

Five members of TRC set out to tackle this superb course and Tom Sawyer’s continued excellent running form meant he stood a good chance of winning it, which he did in a time of 2.19.06! The next person in was 7 minutes after Tom. The course is fantastic and an ideal last long training run for May Marathons with 90% plus off road and some big hills thrown in for good measure. It was hot too. Howard Clark was next in after Tom in 2.48.30, 24th overall and a PB by six minutes. Then followed Martin Hopcroft in 2:49:40, 26th overall. Lynda Hembury had an excellent run coming in as Third Female in 2.49.57 (27th overall) and First Female V60. Dave Sawyer did a last minute entry and despite having a horrible cold was just 6 seconds off 3:30 (79th overall). 155 runners finished

14th Start to Run

Our 14th Start to Run group tackled Aylesbury parkrun as the finale to their six week course on Saturday 22nd October 2016. All the runners did amazingly well and achieved personal bests in terms of time and distance run. They are looking forward to stepping up to group runs with the club every Wednesday evening. A huge well done to them all.

Marathon training starts Sun 17 Jan @ 0800 hrs

Yep, having just returned from a very superb New Year in Scotland, Marathon Training will be commencing from the Club at 0800 hrs on Sunday 17th January.  The changing rooms/showers will be available and coffees and teas available from the Bar after the training.  Please feel free to bring along any flapjack or cakes that you might care to share.
More details of the route to be published over the next couple of days.  Suffice it to say, that we will be staring from about 8 miles and work up to 21/22 miles in due course.  Hopefully, this will make the sessions inclusive for all of those wishing to embark on a Spring marathon this year.  Do not forget to sign up for the Watford Half, which is on Sun 7th Feb (for the 8/9 milers, just give it a go!).
See you on Sunday, if not before,
Nige Lacey

Bridging Group

From 18th November 2015 the Bridging group will be dropping in distance to 3m routes for a few weeks at the same social pace of 12 min miles or around 35 min for a parkrun. It is a great time for any newer runners to try out the club. Simply turn up by 7.20pm on a Wednesday evening and make yourselves known – nothing to pay so nothing to lose 🙂

Midsummer Fun Run TOMORROW

Start to Run course completed

We had a full turnout of 8 runners for the Aylesbury parkrun finale of our 11th Start to Run course. After a fantastic last training session they were feeling confident and well prepared – it was smiles all round. The rain disappeared and they started strongly and madeSTR11 park run finish it look very easy. They all completed the parkrun and cheered each other in over the line. They all hope to continue their running and will be trying out a regular club run with Tring in the coming weeks. More information on our beginner running is on the New to Running section of the website
