TRING RUNNING CLUB

run the best of the Chilterns

ABOUTCONTACTSFUN RUNRIDGEWAYCLUBLINKSNewsletter

At Tring Running Club we offer the widest range of running, from fell running to the London Marathon to a two mile road run. All standards are catered for, from the fastest to the slowest.

We are in the 2nd Division of the Chiltern Cross Country league and we participate in races locally, nationally and even the occasional international event. The team spirit is extraordinary and even if you're last, you'll still be cheered home like the winner and if the champagne doesn't exactly flow, at least the beer does!

New members are always welcome, whatever the age or ability. Our members come from Tring, Berkhamsted and the surrounding area. If you feel you'd like to join us, please feel free to come along. You don't have to commit yourself unless we meet with your approval! Club nights are Wednesdays and we meet at Tring Park Cricket Club, opposite Tescos, at 1920 hrs. See map of the club location, the club night goes like this!:

  • there are ample changing and shower facilities,
  • normally, 4 or 5 groups go out together, running at various paces and distances (from 4-5 miles upwards),
  • groups stay together and all levels of ability are catered for,
  • some groups run across country during the winter wearing head torches,
  • there is a bar where runners can socialise after the training session,
  • membership is £18 per person per year, but please try us out before joining,
  • you will receive a warm, friendly welcome,
  • please introduce yourself so that you can be placed in a group to match your running ability.

Also we generally run from Berkhamsted during the summer on the first Monday of the month, but please check with us first. There is changing but limited showers. Meet at Berkhamsted Cricket Club which is near to the railway station and the castle, see map of how to get there.

CLUB WOMEN also run from Berkhamsted on Monday evenings and Saturday mornings, mainly off road, at various times and locations. Supportive and social running and all levels of runner welcomed. Contact Verna on mbbvbb@waitrose.com for more information.
