I've been running competitively since I was 14, at first on the track
at 400m (pb 52.something as U17) and cross country at school. Then
someone roped me into a Mountain Marathon and I saw the light. Since then
(KIMM 1980, Isle of Arran) I've been an out and out fellrunner, competing
regularly in long dstance events. I lived abroad for 8 years and so
was off the fells in the mid-late 80s and did a little road running setting a
pb for Marathon of 2.42 (Madrid 1989)
I always had a dream of winning an AL Category fell race and in 2002
won the Welsh 1,000m and Brecon Beacons races on days when everyone else was
away at championship events. Now I have dreams of completing some long solo
challenges. The plans are up my sleeve and maybe one day I will pull
them out and put on my shoes.
