Sam Williamson

Seriously unhealthy up to mid twenties - heavy smoker, drinker, poor diet etc. etc. First got fit around 30 years of age having started racing mountain bikes. Got seriously fit in late thirties - competed in triathlon and duathlon at a fairly good age group standard. Mainly into running nowadays although I still cycle, swim and train at the gym particularly when injured - which is quite a bit recently…

Years Running: 5 or 6 on and off (more off than on!)

Favourite surface - (fell/trail/road/triathlon) Originally duathlon, now fell - the longer the better…

Highlights
Wasdale fell race 2006 - my first 'Lakeland Superlong' - finishing top half of the field. Old Counties Tops fell race 2007 - running in a pair with my brother, Hugh - a grand day out - and a chance to stuff my face while running a race!

Aims
Still reckon I can run sub 2:45 for a marathon - if I can stay uninjured for long enough to do the training. Future goals involve fell races - getting out in the hills as often as I can get away with - Mountain Marathons, Mountain Trial and …say it quietly…Bob Graham???

Rave Run
Old Counties Tops - no contest!

Best Training Run
Anything in the North - Edale, Lakes etc. etc. .

Sam doing rather well in the 2006 Hardwick XC race
