| I started running in 1989 aged 27, to get fit for the squash I was playing at the time and because it looked like fun. Soon I was running more than playing squash, and after taking part in a mountain marathon (Karrimor, Arrochar 91) orienteering, fell running and mountain marathons became my reason to run. Around 95 I fell out of love with long distance events, suffering repeated injuries in training - my fitness slumped and my weight rose. I had a running renaissance at age 38 when I lost a couple of stone and found I could run quickly again. I joined Tring Running Club in 2002 and I'm now back into fell running and mountain marathons and really enjoying my running again. Recent PBs
Highlights Aims 1. To finish the Klets at this year's Saunders Mountain Marathon, having retired on day 2 last year. 2. To have another good run at the Lakeland Mountain Trial. 3. To be part of the Tring team at the Ian Hodgson Relays and FRA Relays. 4. As organiser of Tring's Calderdale Relay team, I'd like to put together a team that completes in less than 7 hours. We have some good fell runners, just got to get them all in the team!
Rave Run
Best Training Run Changing it this year, to a couple of runs I do from home. 1. A 7 mile training route into the woods and hills south of Tring, around Dancers End and Hastoe, that is great to run fast - steep climbs and fast descents. 2. A classic triangular route taking in Ivinghoe Beacon,
Berkhamsted castle, Wendover Woods, about 25 miles. Not particularly
hilly but really satisfying to run. |
