We recommend you try us out before committing – just come along (with a head torch) and there will always be someone to give a hand.

At Tring Running Club we welcome all levels of adult runner from complete beginners to elite athletes. On our training night on a Wednesday there is a group for everyone*. In summer we run almost exclusively off road in the beautiful Chiltern Hills.  Most of us still do this in winter, but there is also the option of interval training on road.

If you are a complete beginner, we provide a ‘Start to Run Course’ which is a 6 week course usually run on a Wednesday evening.

Bridging group – for runners who have completed Start to Run, can run slowly for 30 minutes or are recovering from injury. Approximate pace 12 min miles, 3-5 miles.
You would expect to complete a half marathon in 2:30

Bridging group plus –  for runners who can run for an hour plus at 11 min miles, 5-7 miles.
You would expect to complete a half marathon in 2:20

Social group – for runners who can run for an hour plus at 10 min miles, 6-8 miles.
You would expect to complete a half marathon in 2:10

Social group plus – for runners who can run for an hour plus at 9.5 min miles, 6-8 miles.
You would expect to complete a half marathon in 2:05

Medium group – for runners who can run for an hour plus at 9 min miles, 7-9 miles.
You would expect to complete a half marathon in 1:55

Medium/fast group – for runners who can run for an hour plus at 8 min miles, 8-9 miles.
You would expect to complete a half marathon in 1:45

Fast group – for runners who can run for an hour plus at 7 min miles, 10 miles.
You would expect to complete a half marathon in 1:35

Very fast group – for runners who can run an hour plus at 6 min miles or less, 10-12 miles.
You would expect to complete a half marathon in 1:25

* Complete beginners will need to be booked on a pre-planned Start to Run course.
