Tom Sawyer wins Compton 20 Downland Challenge Saturday 8 April 2017

Five members of TRC set out to tackle this superb course and Tom Sawyer’s continued excellent running form meant he stood a good chance of winning it, which he did in a time of 2.19.06! The next person in was 7 minutes after Tom. The course is fantastic and an ideal last long training run for May Marathons with 90% plus off road and some big hills thrown in for good measure. It was hot too. Howard Clark was next in after Tom in 2.48.30, 24th overall and a PB by six minutes. Then followed Martin Hopcroft in 2:49:40, 26th overall. Lynda Hembury had an excellent run coming in as Third Female in 2.49.57 (27th overall) and First Female V60. Dave Sawyer did a last minute entry and despite having a horrible cold was just 6 seconds off 3:30 (79th overall). 155 runners finished

New to Running/enjoying parkrun/worried a club will be too fast for you?

If this is you take note that from mid May our entry level running group at Tring RC, Bridging Group, will be dropping back to flatter 3m routes. Over the summer it will build up to 5-6m routes, including hills and trails. If you would like to be part of our Bridging Group and widen your running experience come along and try it. To get the most from the Bridging Group you should be comfortable running 5k, walking breaks are fine, and complete a parkrun in around 35 minutes.

14th Start to Run

Our 14th Start to Run group tackled Aylesbury parkrun as the finale to their six week course on Saturday 22nd October 2016. All the runners did amazingly well and achieved personal bests in terms of time and distance run. They are looking forward to stepping up to group runs with the club every Wednesday evening. A huge well done to them all.

Ridgeway Run – almost full

RidgewayAs I write (at 6am) there are only 33 places left for the Ridgeway Run, and we normally get that many entries on the final Friday, so it is unlikely that there will any entries available on the day this year. If you were intending to roll up and register on Sunday, I suggest you do it online today instead!
