Tring Running Club members have enjoyed training at the Jarman Park track since Autumn 2022. It’s become a popular fixture leading to PBs and increased motivation. For some, the company of supportive fellow runners has been the biggest attraction. All paces, ages and levels of fitness are welcome and sessions can be readily tailored to suit all (eg running at own pace, taking longer/shorter rests, reducing/increasing reps).
The club is committed to on-going coach training with England Athletics to add value to track sessions and meet safety and safeguarding standards. Athletes new to the track are given a short induction to how things work (including health and safety) before joining a gentle warm-up lap or two. We all follow a series of drills/exercises to prepare the body for running and help prevent injury.
Typical sessions include:-
- 10-14 x 400’s (60-90 seconds static rest between each set)
- 6-8 x 600/200 (60-90 seconds static rest between each set)
- 10-14 x 300m followed by 100m walking recovery
The track sessions are free to Club members and the parking at Jarman Park is also free. There are toilets nearby in the Clubhouse and the floodlights go on as soon as dusk draws in. No tree roots, mud or puddles on Mondays!
