2025 National XC Parliament Hill

In a departure from the usual race report style, I asked Tring runners to sum up their experience of the race in 3 words without referring to “mud”. Here’s what they had to say:

slippery slidey swamp

painfully slow pace

TOTAL CROSS COUNTRY

skating through sludge

worm hitches lift (ask Simon for more detail)

do not faceplant & finish with shoes (being also two bits of advice many runners seemingly chose to ignore)

sanity was questioned

gloopy sludgy scamper

avoiding the casualties

laces tied tight

slippery hill start

surrounded by youngsters

I suppose I should post some results too. Here is what team captain Chris has to say:

After the buzz of lining up with 1800 others at the start; I was already checking my watch after 3Km to see how much further we had to go ! A memorable event, I think the conditions made it the hardest 12Km I have ever run. I normally try to take in the views when I race, but not a chance in that one…..
