Well it’s not often we quote William Shakespeare in our title but it seemed appropriate given the number of PBs and milestones this week.
This week 47 of us were running including 25 at Wendover, 8 at Dunstable and 4 at Rushmere.
A big well done to Hannah Asquith and David Fitzgerald who both recorded their best ever parkrun times. Hannah recorded a 25:02 at Faelledparken, Denmark and David a 23:07 more locally at Aylesbury.
With the ground drying out there were a number of course PBs at Wendover. Spare a thought for Tom Moreton who had a chance to record his 3rd 1st in a row at Wendover Woods. This week he improved his pb time by a further 8 seconds, dipping under 19 minutes but there was no podium for Tom, finishing 4th as we welcomed back Adam Pavey, finishing 1st and Josh Frewin, finishing 3rd who also improved his course pb by 17 seconds to 18:42. It was all quite close with just 24 seconds between 1st and 4th . Other course pb improvements included Gill Gordon 34:46 (2 second improvement) and Emmaleen Muldoon 39:43 (1.5 minute improvement) and a mention for Carole Page who was only 4 seconds off her best at Dunstable Downs. Also at Dunstable Downs this week Lynda Hembury finished 3rd female.
Well done to Lorraine Hurford (53% Tring, 15% Dunstable Downs, 12% Wendover Woods) and Paul McCormack (63% Tring, 13% Wendover, 13% single visit tourism) who both ran their 300th parkruns and Paul Allen on his 100th (51% Dunstable Downs, 24% Rushmere, 12% Wendover Woods).
Now we are in the middle of April, time to wish happy 10th parkrun birthday to Hermione Houston and Matt Wade who started their parkrunning in April 2025.
Explorer of the week was Chris Vile, being the first member to run at Caffarella, Rome, Italy, and he was also our furthest travelled. The run is held in the Appia Antica Regional Park which, with its 4,580 hectares, is the largest urban protected area in Europe.
With Neil Adcock away on holiday and not running this week, it’s an all-female final two with only Clare Murphy and Lorraine Hurford remaining in our 2025 100% club.
Did you guess our most seen P’s? Well the answers were Preston Park (thanks to Lydia Vye), Panshanger (various members of the club) and Penrose (thanks to Andy Collings). So we move on to the rare Q’s. As a club we have only visited 4 Q’s – 3 in the UK and 1 overseas – can you guess them?
A reminder next week on 19th April the TRC parkrun outing is a trip south to the popular trail route at Church Mead in Amersham. As a bit of LDWA training, I may be walking over there or back. If you fancy accompanying me on the c11 mile walk drop me a mail (andy.evans12@btinternet.com) – More details of the run can be found here https://www.parkrun.org.uk/churchmead/course/ Hope to see you there.
