A little damp…
For those running locally, probably the wettest ever parkrun, with the heavy rain arriving just a few minutes before 9. Several new waterfall features were spotted at local courses!
Unsurprisingly many saw the forecast and stayed in bed with just 32 of us taking part – the lowest number since holiday season in mid-July. The 3 main clusters being Wendover Woods (20), Dunstable Downs (4), and a Cheddington females outing to Hove Promenade (3).

20 of us were at Wendover for this month’s TRC parkrun outing. And the weather conditions were such that those coming across from Aylesbury because their course was flooded must have felt at home with all the puddles. No time after for the group photo as everyone needed to head home or to the café to dry out!

Lorraine Hurford was our only podium this week, with her 2nd female finish at Wendover Woods. Last week’s cross country water feature proving to be useful training for this week’s parkrun!
Well done to Huw Moreton who not only broke his course PB at Wendover Woods but also improved his “lowest barcode at any parkrun” to 12, and I think top-10 is imminent (a feat that 79 of the club have achieved).
Well done to Dave Cary who reached his 150th parkrun (achieved Tring 33%, Dunstable Downs 30%, Aylesbury 10%).
A bit like busses…… So, the club has had to wait years for someone to achieve “position bingo”, and as we reported in last week’s report, Katie Haines recently achieved this feat when she obtained a barcode ending in “40” to complete her set of 100. Well, this week the feat has been repeated, with Ros Cranston finishing in position 140 to complete her own parkrun bingo, and if you are feeling observant, you’ll have noticed that by complete chance they both needed”40” to complete their last number!
Well done Steve Morgan who chose this rainy week to break his all-time parkrun PB at the super-fast Rickmansworth course with a time of 23:11, a 32 second improvement.
Did you have a go at last week’s “guess the 3 parkruns beginning with A that have been most visited by the current TRC membership” – well the answers were Aylesbury (867 visits by 105 of us), Aldenham (135 visits by 25 of us and 75% thanks to Tony Stewart) and Abingdon (21 visits by 5 of us and 80% thanks to Nigel Bunn). This week we move onto “B” – Arguably a harder 3 to guess this week.
And finally, just a reminder of the 2 remaining TRC parkrun outings this year at Linford Wood on 23/11 and at Gadebridge on 25/12. Hopefully these will be drier!
