A round up from the last 2 weeks and a reminder that tomorrow (Sat 23rd) is our monthly parkrun, this month at Linford Wood (in Milton Keynes)
Hermione easily won the “furthest travelled” with her visit to Hobsonville Point on the outskirts of Auckland, New Zealand. Only Sally Nash has run more times here. This week our furthest travelled was a bit closer to home with Pam Stonebrook’s journey to Blackpool.
Well done Richard Long for completing his 150th parkrun (65% Wendover Woods, 19% Tring and 6% Castleblaney), Joe Brown who gained his ‘50’ milestone t-shirt at Wendover (38% Wendover, 30% Dunstable and 16% Highwoods) and Mary Ward with her 150th parkrun (28% Tring, 19% Rushmere, 13% Wendover and 11% Dunstable).
Next up on the milestone trail are Emma Adcock on 299, Lynda Hembury on 199 and Hilary Needleman on 49.
Mark Tikaram came closest to a PB with his 20:58 at Leavesden Country, being just 4 seconds off his all-time PB and David Fitzgerald saw a big decrease in his best finish down from 62 to 26 with his run at Rushmere.
Course PBs this week from Joe Brown and Huw Moreton at Wendover and Josh Frewin at Worcester. Also, a mention for Becky Raftery, Gill Gordon, Louise Bladen and Mark Tikaram who were all within 15 seconds of their course PBs. In the previous week individual course PBs for Mark Tikaram at Leavesden Country, Tim Fryer and Paul McCormack at Wendover Woods and Dave Cary at Houghton Hall. Well done all.
Congrats to Louise Bladen who has reached 100 parkruns at Dunstable Downs and become the 6th from TRC to have achieved 100 parkruns at 2 parkrun locations. The full set being Louise Bladen and Peter Leigh (Tring & Dunstable Downs), Dennis Raffety, Chris Bill, Alison Bill (Tring and Wendover Woods) and Ros Cranston (Finsbury Park and Wendover Woods)
Podiums this week were all female :- Becky Raftery 1st female Wendover, Louise Bladen and Liz O’Keeffe 2nd and 3rd females at Dunstable and Lynda Hembury 3rd female Rushmere.
Well done to Jules Wake for visiting Edenbrook Country – Our 2nd closest that as a club we hadn’t previously visited. If you want to visit a parkrun that no one from the club has previously visited, then the closest 5 are now Battersea, Walthamstow, University of Northampton, Tooting Common and Morden
With the 10-year anniversary of the start of Tring parkrun, many of you, this month, will also be celebrating your own parkrun 10th birthdays including Lorraine Hurford, Andy Neil, John, Liz and Ben O’Keeffe, Simon Stevenson, Steve Bladen, Stuart Page, Nick Knight, Katie Haines, Kevin Dance and Joanne Kyte. If you like graphs – here is the distribution of which year those of you who have run at least one parkrun started parkrunning in.

If you guessed the “What C’s has TRC seen the most?” then you probably got Cassiobury Park and Church Mead but in surprise 3rd place was Congleton thanks to Ros and Angelo’s trips to the North West. Next up we have the D’s, no prizes for the most popular D but the other two are harder.
A reminder that this Saturday, 23rd November is the TRC trip to Linford Wood parkrun – a winding, single lap, clockwise course, half on cycle paths and half on gravel paths through the woods https://www.parkrun.org.uk/linfordwood/course/ The forecast is 5C, wet and strong winds, so could be an ideal week for those of you who normally do your running at cross-country or on the fells! For those of you who prefer your trainers not to be caked in mud, the course through the woods is all on the MK Redway paths – Just watch out for the local MK delivery robots!
Some TRC stats about Linford Wood – Andrew and Jose Hetherington have visited it the most and indeed have visited it more than the rest of us altogether. Adrian Fails (19:54) holds the fastest male time and Helen Tullie (22:47) holds the female record. One record that we should beat is the fact that the most from TRC appearing at Linford Wood on the same day is currently 2!Hope to see you there.
