Plenty of new parkrun visiting

36 of us running this week with 16 at Wendover Woods and 9 at Dunstable Downs.

5 parkruns were visited for the first time by TRC:

Paul Mccormack was at the seaside at Marine Parade, along the front at Weston-super-Mare.

Also in the South west, Chris Vile visited Thoulstone. A relatively new parkrun near Warminster.

Katie Haines ran at Thousand Hills. With plenty of  elevation change and also run at altitude, it is ranked as one of the hardest in South Africa and in the top 10 of hardest in the world!

Jon Salmon was across the Atlantic at Old Town House Park, Yarmouth, Cape Cod. Mr Salmon at Cape Cod? – without a Trout a fine Plaice to visit!

Emma and Neil Adcock at Örebro – around a nature reserve in central Sweden.

Matt West running in Rome

So countries visited this week were UK, Sweden, Italy, USA and S. Africa, which means that Katie in South Africa is once again our furthest travelled. South Africa has now overtaken Australia, Poland and New Zealand as the most visited country in 2025.

There were course PBs for Jez Wood at Leavesden Country in a time of 21:38 (knocking 14 seconds off his previous PB) and myself at Dunstable Downs in a time of 26:09 (knocking 1 minute 34 seconds off my previous PB and a new overall parkrun age grade % PB) which was a pleasant surprise (Thanks to Katie van de Linde for some great pacing)!

Well done to the following for their podium positions: Josh Frewin 1st at Wendover, Jon Salmon 2nd male at Old Town House Park, Emma Adcock 2nd female at Örebro and Katie Van de Linde 3rd female at Dunstable.

Our next TRC outing is to Cassiobury on 28th June. As it is the last Saturday of the month there will be pacers so for anyone chasing a PB, this will be a good one to visit. Further details can be found here https://www.parkrun.org.uk/cassiobury/course/.
