Hope you’ve all had a good Easter break. There certainly was plenty of travelling with 24 different parkruns being visited, which is the highest number of parkruns on one day this year and in fact only 2nd to 31/8/24 which saw 25 visited. 54 of us were running, our 2nd highest total this year, with 14 at Church Mead and 9 at Wendover.
Another week and another PB mention for Tom Moreton. This week, running at Felixstowe, he shaved a further 6 seconds off his all-time parkrun PB to 18:14, well done Tom! Personal course PBs also for Huw Moreton at Felixstowe, Josh Frewin at Houghton Hall and at Church Mead for Katie Haines. Jose Hetherington and Hermione Houston.
It was a good TRC turnout for our monthly parkrun outing and afterwards most of us managed to squash into a local coffee shop for coffee and freshly baked hot cross buns.
Our most exploring explorers, Neil and Emma Adcock were the first from TRC to visit Meon Valley Trail (near Fareham) on its 2nd week. This is a flat out and back course following the Meon Valley disused railway line.
Well done to Brian Richards who completed his 50th parkrun at Cassiobury (38% Tring, 28% Wendover, 18% Aylesbury and 12% Cassiobury).
This week an easy win for John Manning in the “furthest travelled” category with his Australian adventure continuing at Noosa in Queensland.
There were podiums this week for Sarah Needleman (1st female at Church Mead), Mary Ward (1st female at Rushmere) and Josh Frewin (1st at Houghton Hall). Well done all.
Did you guess our most seen Q’s? Well the answers were unsurprisingly our nearest “Q” – on the A3 towards Portsmouth, Queen Elizabeth Country Park which 9 of us have visited. A surprise 2nd place is Queenstown Australia (thanks to Hermione Houston, Chris Grimette and Andy Neil). Joint 3rd being Quakers walk with a visit from Jules Wake and Queens, Belfast, thanks to Hermione Houston again.
So onto the R’s. Can you guess them? – you’re looking for a couple of local courses and one in the smallest county.
Next TRC monthly outing is to Houghton Hall on 17th May. Further details can be found here https://www.parkrun.org.uk/houghtonhall/course/
