On Saturday, the global parkrun attendance record that had stood for over 5 years was broken along with the UK record. 377k worldwide and over 200k finishers in the UK for the first time ever of which 49 of them were from TRC, our highest total in 2025. 26 of us were at Wendover Woods, 9 at Dunstable Downs and 6 at Rushmere.
Well done to Ben O’Keeffe (2nd at Rushmere), Liz O’Keeffe (2nd female at Rushmere), Luke Delderfield (3rd at Aylesbury) and Kat Sizer (3rd female at Wendover). An extra well done for Kat who also knocked about a mimute off her Wendover Woods PB.
Congrats to Katie Haines’ for her 350th parkrun (44% Tring, 14% Wendover, 3% Houghton Hall). Katie is one of out top tourists having visited 105 different parkruns and has volunteered over 100 times.
How did you get on with our most popular “I’s”? The 3 most seen (although quite rarely to be fair) were Irchester Country with visits over the years by 7 of us, Itchen Valley Country (thanks to the Pendrighs) and Inch Beach (thanks mainly to the Bladen family). Verna Burgess is the only person to have seen the same “I” twice with a couple of visits to Irchester.
So we move on the rare “J’s” – Due to their rarity, the 1st and 2nd are probably fairly obvious but the 3rd one also comes from the Bladen family holidays.
Emma and Neil Adcock were this week’s furthest travelled with a trip to Market Bosworth.
Len Van de Linde was the first member to run at Oaklands College, a new parkrun that has just been set up in Saint Albans and probably for many at the club their new NENDY (Nearest Event Not Yet Done). We have scheduled our February TRC parkrun trip there on 8th February.
This Saturday sees our next monthly TRC trip with a visit to Rushmere. This coincides with the 2025 Off-road championships. Further details can be found here https://www.parkrun.org.uk/rushmere/course/ Remember to wear your zebra stripes! And then as mentioned our February trip will be to Oaklands College on 8th February.
Hope to see you at both of these.
